Mark Perry obtains defense verdict for oncologist after three-week trial

In November, Mark obtained a defense verdict for an oncologist after a three-week trial in Central Pennsylvania.  The oncologist, along with Co-defendant surgical oncologist and Medical Center each obtained a defense verdict.  Plaintiffs alleged that the patient, who died several days following a mastectomy, had been improperly treated.  Plaintiffs alleged that the oncologist failed to order appropriate imaging studies and preoperative testing which would have indicated that the decedent’s cancer was at an advanced stage, thereby making the surgery unnecessary.  Plaintiffs also alleged that preoperative testing would have identified heart damage resulting from Adriamycin, a potent chemotherapy drug.  The defense argued that the care of the oncologist met all appropriate standards of care.  The jury deliberated for less than an hour after a three-week trial.
