Jury
verdict favors doctors
BY RAY FLANAGAN / STAFF WRITER 12/21/2002
Three
doctors who were absolved of wrongdoing for not discovering
the heart disease that killed a letter carrier about
a year after they examined him.
The
malpractice suit was filed by Mary Kim Feidei and the
estate of her late husband, Barry. Mr. Feidei was tested
for heart disease in August 1994 when he was brought
to CMC complaining of chest pain. He died in August
1995.
Testimony
during the weeklong trial before Judge Carmen Minora
indicated an EKG and stress test given to Mr. Feidei
did not turn up any abnormal results. Attorney Lawrence
Finney, the Feidei attorney, argued a thallium stress
test might have discovered the heart disease.
Mrs.
Feidei wanted $1.5 million to settle.
The
defendants were Dr. Madhava Rao, represented by attorney
David Saba; Dr. Michael Kondash, represented by attorney
Mark Perry, and Dr. Chau Fe Huang, represented by attorney
George Nace.
